Hi guys, newbie here and finally saved enough funds for a capri. Been seeing these things at show for the past 8 years and love them.

Now I know 6k wont get me anything special but looking for a black (only have black cars) not a total rust bucket 1.6 or 2.0 Capri with mot.

Any leads would be great and looking forward to joining to crew.

Thanks

You may be lucky and get one or £6000, but you are resticting a fairly hard search by wanting a black car only.
On here is a good place to start :) Also, Ebay, Gumtree, Auto Trader, Car and Classic and try Capri World and Capri Laser on Facebook.

Over budget;

Or you may find one that needs work that you can paint black and come in on budget?

Under budget;

Saw that one, but the OP wanted a 1.6 or 2.0 (You know the far superior Pinto :D )

Just trying to set them on the correct path before they make a mistake!! :lol:

Actually, don't buy it and then I can have it!!

Black was never a standard colour option, it was always cost-extra done to order. So that will always explain the relatively lower number of black cars of any mark or spec.

Congratulations on deciding to look for a Capri. Despite values having nudged upwards in recent years they are still immensely practical classics to own.

Great to drive, great to look at, straightforward to work on and with a highly supportive ownership community. . From a pre facelift Mk1 to a late Mk3, from 1.3 to 3.1, you are making the right choice. You now just need to find the right example that suits you. :drive:

As others have said it could be worth going for something that's basically sound but that does require a bit of paintwork so you get it a bit cheaper and then find someone to paint it black.

Looking around the forum will help you get an idea of whats around, what people buy and what they avoid and of course all the valuable learnings of the issues that people have faced and how they overcame them.
