Hi,

Hope you don't mind this post but found a couple of nice Capris on pistonheads especially this 2.8 Special with 8000miles, no doubt will fetch quite a bit...

Hi,
Love the black 2.8, and from the pictures it looks as though the mileage could be genuine. It's incredible how many of these low mileage Capris keep popping up at auction! It'll be interesting to see what that sells for.

Andrew.

Agree, I'm always surprised when Capris like this still pop up; I thought all would've surfaced by now!

The black one is really nice and it has a long MOT so hopefully drivable straight away...I guess!

On Gumtree there is a one owner from new 2.0S with the rare red/black Carla trim, its more of a project (offers invited) but looks ok, and a genuine mk1 wing for £500 (sorry can't copy links).

Question is, will the classic car bubble burst?

In my opinion, and that's just a guess, I think that as long as the banking interest rates stay low, investers will see classic cars as a reasonably safe place to put their money and still get a reasonable return on it. As long as investors are buying, that is keeping the prices buoyant. I believe that to be the case at the top end of the market, anyway. At the lower end, where the Capri resides, I think the market is being driven by nostalgia. People of a certain age ( ) remember these cars fondly from their youth and now they have the means to buy them. Again, the demand is driving the prices skyward. Personally, I can't see the Capri dropping in price anytime soon, and that's a shame as I'd love that black 2.8! :D

Hi,
Another stunner!
Looks good with the plate, I wonder if it's being sold with the car?

I do like 2.8's in blue, especially the two tone combo with pepper pots!

Found this nice looking all blue 4speed;

I'd prefer the injection stripe on the front wings to tuck round to the headlamps, but I'm just too fussy for my own good!

It always seemed a pity they discontinued the option of Carla trim on the 2.8i in early 1983.

Im presuming this only happened because Ford wanted to visually separate the Injection from what had now become the entry level car, the LS which had Carla trim (albeit non Recaro) now that the base, L & GL had all been discontinued.

I like Carla too, or that check design in any 70/80's car not just the Capri.....Carla with the half leather would be good with me :D

I agree, I really like the Carla upholstery. Perhaps it was discontinued because it would have looked dated back then. Changing the upholstery material would have been a cheap fix to modernise the interior. With the increased interest in retro stuff, the carla check seems to be cool now.

Back in the day as a schoolboy I thought the Carla trim was getting dated, a mates dad had a 4speed that I loved, but then I was given the 84 Ford brochure with the 5speed and thought the monza trim was really modern and better, but now grown fond of the checkered trim just as much, gives more character.

The monza trim was used in the xr3i and think ford saved money by using the same trim, plus it was in my view the most up to date at the time and quite luxurious!
The strobe trim in the half leather is the same as the Granada GL.

I remember a classicford buyers guide in 2001 / 02 on the 3.0S and they said to ditch the Carla trim and go for the half leathers...no wonder they're valuable now!

The pics make this look like a really good buy, if all the usual checks are ticked ok it has great potential!
