Wow only 143 miles. Always puzzles me, how can a vehicle of this age (especially a workhorse of a vehicle like this) can end up being used so little.

Hi,
Wow, superb condition as would be expected for a vehicle of this mileage.
As Andy says, it will be interesting to see what it sells for as it's been bid up to £15K already!

Hi Andy,
Maybe it isn't the sort of vehicle that would be stashed away by a collector. I can see it being bought by somebody who will get it signwritten and use it as a promotion or advertising vehicle for their business.

Hi All,

What a Brilliant find. The last of the True Vans in my eyes. I was lucky enough to do some delivery work in one of these, just before the new Wedge shape was released. I even heard of some 'Unscrupulous' people hiring these from a certain Hire Co in Leeds, by the Arch's and swapping the engines out in an afternoon for the old tired 1.6cc in their Cortina's and Capri's. Just the sump to swap over apparently!!!   Even so, they could shift a bit... Happy memories and a Great find.

Would be a Great show piece to have done up in the Company Logo and use now!!! What a talking piece!!! Just get the Rubber Wheel Arch extensions fitted, thats a must!!! Cheers,

John...

That's what I wanted to do a few years ago when I was running my own business. I was after a mark 1 escort van, but try and find one! Anyway, have since started working for a firm again so no need to worry now!

What a find, as said, it's incredible that a working vehicle like this has been unused for so long. Wonder what it's story is ? Great piece of ford history though, one for the museums. Amazing to think of a van being too good to use !

Over £17k and reserve not met......Prob £20K :?:

Imagine scratching or denting it if it is used  And it's not even 'run in' yet, so could be some mechanical issues to sort :?

Should drop a V6 or V8 in it :burnout:

Some port hole Windows, crushed velvet interior, metal flake paint.. Sorry, just bought the full 1979 year worth of 'Hot Car' magazine off :ebay: , fancied a bit of a retro read. Got to say, it looks much better standard, maybe just add some wolf race slot alloys.. :D

Hi All,
I'd paint it black with a red A-team stripe on it, in true 1980's style..... :D
As Andy says, it's now over £17K with 7 days still to run.

Hi Andy, funny you should post this link as I was talking with a chap at work this afternnon about this very Cossie. He has one Identical Spec/condition to this one if not better he maintains !! He NEVER drives it except maybe one or two drives during the year, its NEVER been washed with water just dusted off, he has a heated garage and keeps it up on axle stands with the wheels off. Yet he spends hundreds getting this and that done including upgrades on brakes and re-mapping it so it has a mental level of power......that he never uses  On the very few times he has taken it out he has had two tiny scrapes cause he is "not used to driving it with all this power". His mileage is a lot less than this one you linked to and its genuine as he is the only owner. He knew his was worth a bit but after see this one hit 50K he probably wont take it out EVER AGAIN !! He is so stressed out over seeing this now. If he kept it like this to only display it at shows then fair enough I suppose but he wont even do this out of worrying it has to come out of the garage ! Shame cause NO-ONE actually gets to see it and if it is as majestic as he says it is and I believe every word, then I think that's a pity.

Anyway he keeps promising me he will bring it into the bus garage one day...I am still waiting 13 years later....

All the best mate

Nick

Hi Nick,
Does he really have one at all :proof:

May as well put it back to standard and sell it if he's not going to use it, it wont be worth anymore money modified imo....

Part of the fun is taking them to shows as many people have never seen them up close, or bringing back memories for those that had one.

Hi Andy,
Wow! That is serious money for a Sapphire , and it wasn't that long ago you could pick up an RS500 for less than that. Not anymore it would seem.......

I could not agree with you more mate. What a shame as surely he would get such a great sense of pride with the reaction it would surely receive at the likes of Simply or Santa Pod or any show for that matter. This year he was actually thinking of going to go to Ford Fair.......on the bleedin' train ! Mind you I cant blame him for this I suppose as the queue to get into Silverstone is getting earlier and earlier and longer and longer !!

All the best

Nick
