£20201, £21900 and £16300 in previous auctions with reserve not met!!
IMO £20k is more than enough as it is only a Transit

Re: Not a Capri......
Hi Andy,
Although this van is likely to be one of a kind these days, I can't see anyone parting with much more than £20K for it. I'd love to know how much the seller is expecting it to fetch, but with three auctions not reaching their reserve price, I would have thought they would have reduced the reserve.

Andrew, another case of over the top pricing Seems to be getting worseAndrew 2.8i wrote:Hi Andy,

I'd love to own this Transit, had I both the space and money.
It looks as though the Ebay auction method is clearly not obtaining the hammer price that the seller thinks the vehicle is worth. If it was me selling, I would wait until early Summer next year and enter it for a classic auction and see what happens.

Re: Not a Capri......
That's the sensible approach if the reserve has been reduced. It's not really the best time of year to be selling classics though.andyd wrote:Reduced!!!???

Wow! That is serious money for a Sapphire , and it wasn't that long ago you could pick up an RS500 for less than that. Not anymore it would seem.......

The seller must have read this forum!andyd wrote:Reserve met
Although I still say that the seller should have waited until the Spring to sell, I wouldn't be surprised if the price is bid above what it achieved before. Once a car is actually selling, the bidders sometimes go crazy. Time will tell.

Funnily enough, I watched an old episode of Wheeler Dealers where they bought a Sapphire Cosworth for £4100 and sold it for £6000. The episode aired originally in 2010! If anyone was in any doubt how the prices of classic Fords have skyrocketed......

Re: Not a Capri......
Hi Andrew,
That car was the opposite end of the scale when they bought it. But it looked great once completed albeit still heavily modified engine wise.
The car above is standard very low mileage, but £70K This is the sort of dealer that is ruining the Classic/Modern Classic Car scene by
putting £20k onto their purchase price....Profit yes, but this is taking the P

All of the WD cars are at the low end of the condition scale, and to be honest, I probably wouldn't have touched that particular Sierra with a bargepole. It would sell for more than £6K these days though, dependant on condition. It's currently without an MOT, so may be on a downward spiral there.

I bet alot of the cars WD have done fall by the wayside.....Andrew 2.8i wrote:Hi Andy, andyd wrote:That car was the opposite end of the scale when they bought it.

Episode 10 of Car SOS (Jan 18th ?) revisits some of the cars from the current series.... Should be interesting

Especially after they thrashed it doing 0-60 runs on a half rebuilt engineAndrew 2.8i wrote:Hi Andy, andyd wrote:That car was the opposite end of the scale when they bought it.

I read somewhere that members of the crew posed as the buyers if the car hadn't sold in time.......

Hi Andy,andyd wrote:Retracted bids ??
It looks like the high bidder retracted their bid. The underbidder who then became the highest bidder retracted their bid two days later.
Some might suspect dodgy practice here.....
At least we now know roughly what the reserve is.
