brooky wrote:Totally agree Andy, I bought my 280, spent 18 months getting it to a reasonable standard so that I could drive it regularly, the more I drive it the better it runs as it does not like being stood which if you think about it, with a mechanical injection system, is not surprising as having the component parts stood for any length of time is not good.

26k sat in a garage is same as 26 k sat in the bank for me, nice to look at and put a smile on your face when you look at your savings once a month but much better to have that smile every day you drive it. :drive:

Just off now to do the shopping in mine, its a bugger trying to get all those carrier bags in the boot thats not deep enough, bloody car :xd:

Hi Mark,
:agree: 100%
One place I wouldn't take it is a Supermarket Carpark unless it is 100 yards from anyone else...Respect to you though :)

Doesn't do them any good they need to be driven to some extent, could end up with some problems with his investments :sorry: cars if not careful.

Just have what you can afford to drive and maintain properly IMO......

Hi Andy

Totally agree but in his case at least his brother and son take them out occasionally... I've had a great year meeting numerous Capri/Ford owners at various events and quite a few of their cars see very limited miles per year and some of them are to the MOT station and back..lol.... Can't wait to get mine going properly next year buddy ... :D

Des
Showing/driving them is what it's all about to me :D Dry weather only though if possible

Look forward to seeing yours when done :D

Hi,
The seller makes it clear that he thinks it's worth big money. He considers £5K a "stupid offer".
He's right about that!

Hi Neil

Stating the obvious but Money talks as they say and to 18-30k is a very attractive proposition if you bought a few years ago, just hope the new owners keep using them. There are very few who could afford to turn it down so IF they sell I expect more, possibly just before the new show season next year....

Hi,
Somebody bid £8K?
I wonder if that bidder has performed any research into the cost of parts and restoration. The £30K 280 for sale looks like a much smarter proposition. Of course, somebody bidding £8K on Ebay doesn't necessarily mean that the seller will actually receive the money after the buyer has viewed the car. Will the winning bidder even turn up to collect the car?

Very desirable model indeed! Shame its got doors from a later model. I'd be a bit concerned it wasn't a genuine 5 speed pepperpot

I've seen other 'A' Reg Capri's with the lock under the handle too...Was this the change over year so some have the old style as well??

Hi All,
I think the separate lock was used on the Capri before the Special was introduced.
As far as I'm aware, the Special was introduced in October '84. I believe all Lasers had the later style lock position, and they were introduced in June '84. As for those locks being fitted to '83 models (LS, S, Injection Cabaret II), I bow to Andy's greater experience/knowledge on this.

A plated cars could have had either style of locks fitted. I have recently broken a couple and one had early locks and the other had later.

The car was registered 03/01/1984 so its way earlier than June..... Either way its a stunning car that just needs a couple of early doors fitted to finish it off :D
