Capri 1.6gl Automatic, 47k original miles, 1982

Ford Capri 1.6 GL Automatic.
47 Thousand genuine miles, very original car!

It has recently had a mild restoration and respray in its original color. Some welding has been done to both of the front foot wells, but it has been done to a very high standard so there is no rust to be found anywhere on the car! Rare for an old Ford.

The engine runs very smooth with no tappet noise to be heard, its so smooth and considering its age it needs to be seen (or heard) to be believed.
Starts first time every time, but that's not really a surprise when you consider the car's genuine low mileage, and i have decades worth of history proving its authenticity.

Speaking of paperwork, the car even has its original owners/instruction manual (pictured) and it also comes with a very rare mint condition Ford catalog from 1982 (also pictured), showcasing all the cars (Capris included) and all the specs, and colors that Ford made at the time, a very valuable and rare piece in itself.

The car has years and years of old service history and MOT's going back decades as well.

The car drives nicely, the gearbox is smooth, brakes work perfectly, no knocks or nasty noises anywhere. The car passed its MOT with flying colors, ZERO advisories and lasts until next January.

Most of the car is original, only the doors were replaced as the original ones weren't salvageable unfortunately, suffering from rust along the hinges, however where the hinges attached to the car itself were not rusted at all so no further damage was done, meaning no welding was necessary in these areas.

Some welding was necessary along the bottom of the A-pillar on the drivers side, but like everything else was done to a very high standard.

Front wings however are all original and required no welding around the headlights and the panel lines line up perfectly with the bonnet and front valance like the day it came off the factory floor.

Interior is in almost mint condition, with only the drivers side seat showing a minor defect along the top (pictured). The sunroof does not leak and fits and works perfectly.

The dashboard is un-cracked and has its original, unmolested fascia, complementing the original AM/FM radio.
It has a fully working heaterbox, with both speed settings for the fan working perfectly.

It has all its original glass, with the license plate number stamped in the correct places.

No aftermarket alarm was fitted, so no holes have been drilled into the dash and no nasty wiring hanging out all over the place.

The engine has been serviced and detailed, the only unoriginal parts are the upgraded Weber carburetor and air box, replacing the original asthmatic carb' allowing the engine to run smoother, more efficient and with slightly more power, the exhaust has been replaced with a brand new one also.

Due to its small size, the engine isn't a powerhouse however it more than gets the job done and is very economical and easy to drive due to the automatic transmission.

A perfect car for a more mature driver who may not be able to change gear any more looking for an easy classic to enjoy and take to shows, or good for a learner/first time car owner.

All four tires are like new Continentals, and the wheels are the original factory spec ones too.

This is a rare gem and a real collectors item!
