Hi,
Looks like it! Here are some recently sold examples of how far your budget goes with a 2.8....
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1985-FORD-CAP ... 7675.l2557

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-CAPRI-/2 ... 7675.l2557

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-8I-Ford-Cap ... 7675.l2557

Good luck with your search. Hopefully you'll be in the right place at the right time to pick up a bargain, as they sometimes do pop up.

Andrew.

Sorry mate, I doubt you will get anything worth while for 3k - plan for anything even worth considering from 6k upwards - sign of the times I'm afraid

Yep, great for owners but not so great for genuine enthusiasts who want one as not everyone has £0000's spare kicking around - its a bit chicken and egg, no one wants to do anything stupid and buy anything just to get onto the ladder with high prices as they are, but the longer you look, the more expensive they will become - certainly in the near term :banghead:

Hi,
It's only great for owners who wish to sell and not buy another Capri.
If the owner isn't selling their car, rising prices won't make any difference at all except, perhaps, with a higher insurance premium.

In my opinion, until recently the Capri has been undervalued when compared with other classic cars, and perhaps it's now finding it's correct level in the market. Just a thought.

All the best,
Andrew.

And that's my point re owners wishing to sell

Agree with your opinion re Capri's being somewhat undervalued until recently. In my opinion it is one of the most iconic cars of the post war era
