Excellent Capri 3.0S For Sale

Post by malcolmrs2000 »

As I hardly use the car and have finally got round to MOTing and Taxing my XPACK RS2000 and nearly finished the resto of my XPACK 3.0 Capri so will use the 3.0S even less.

I bought the capri from a guy I know who restored it over a number of years. He sold it to finish off his RS3100 that I found for him about 16 years ago!

He is well known around the Glasgow area for the quality of his restorations. He does it as a hobby and not as a business so never rushes things. He previously restored a MK2 Lotus Cortina to show standard and is now finishing an RS3100 Capri.

He bought the car from down south and stripped it and had the shell blasted back to bare metal. It was originally Silver ( this would have been my preference) but he painted it white as he was keeping it for himself(changed his mind when he decided the RS3100 should be a priority).

He reassembled the car to a very high standard as can be seen from the clips, connectors, brake pipes etc. when I took it for its first MOT after buying it, the MOT tester asked to buy it and so have many people since!! The underside is painted white as is underneath the carpets etc.

Excellent Orange Carla interior, uncracked dash. 15" revolutions with tyres that have only covered 6000 miles. Mileage from the 5 MOTs since I bought the car -
103773
105994
107486
108989
109941

Motd till May 2016. The car is fitted with Accuspark Electronic Ignition but standard everywhere else.

I have messed up the 'S' side graphics by wiping the end of them with gunwash which erased some of the stipes but have a new set to go with the car.

The car has the usual Capri oil leaks but nothing serious and a couple of small blemishes on the paint work.

This car was restored 5 or so years ago and I bought it just over 4 years ago.I am after £12000 for the car and will put it on ebay at the end of the month with this price as the reserve. If it doesn't sell I will have the small bits and pieces done and sell it next year at a higher price.

Hi,
Looks fantastic, in my opinion you definitely won't have any trouble selling this. Super clean underneath as well as the bits you can see! :D
I assume it's your own personalised plate on the car at the moment, are you selling the plate with the car?

Good luck with the sale,
Andrew.

After a good deal of interest, both on here and Capripower, lots of emails, PMs etc things have gone quiet. I had hoped that a genuine Capri enthusiast would have bought the car but I will now put it on eBay and some 'investor' will probably buy it and not an enthusiast. Will post the link tomorrow.

Surprised it hasn't sold yet :o
That's the trouble, people are buying Classic Cars and locking them away which is wrong IMO.
We all hope our cars will increase in value but they should still be driven and shown (in the dry in my case)

Good Luck with the Sale

I think most people would love to buy it to be fair! I know I would love to have it, and I'm on the lookout for a 3.0S but it will probably have to be another restoration as £12k is pricing me out :(

I Think one of the issues may be that a 2.8I can be picked up for around half that price in a usable condition, and at 8-10k can get a pretty decent example and everyone seems to remember the 2.8s not the 3.0 litres...

Tis a shame

Cheers
Danny

Yep, this car looks like excellent value for money compared to some of the other 3.0S that we've seen for sale recently from dealers.

Good luck with the sale,
Andrew.

I also have a set of Capri Club 7" RS replica ( not Midlands) 5 brand new alloys with wheel nuts, centre caps and 4 part worn 205x60x13 Tyres to fit to them if someone preferred them to the genuine 15" Revolutions currently fitted to the car. (As an optional extra purchase)

Hi Neil,
I don't want to Jinx it, but hopefully it will do well and sell to a genuine buyer :D
