Capri 3.0 wanted
Hi,
After many years away from Capri ownership, I'm looking for a 3.0 s or a manual 3.0 ghia. I'm not looking for concours car that I'd be frightened of using. Hopefully some one out there has the one for me!!
Thanks
Dave

Hi Dave,
Welcome to the forum.
There are a few people on this forum, myself included, who will happily post links of cars for sale from other sites, so you can be sure that you won't miss out on anything.
What part of the country are you looking for a car in, and do you have a preferred budget?
All the best,
Andrew.

Hi Andrew,
Thanks for the welcome, I live in Rugby, my budget is up to around 10k. I got pointed to this forum after visiting the restoration show at the NEC today. I may settle for a 2.8i but I want that Bodie and Doyle look.
Cheers,
Dave

Was that by a chap who was exhibiting a black 2.8 Injection Special?
By the way, You've got a decent (realistic) budget to get a good car, hopefully. I'll keep an eye out for you.
All the best,
Andrew.

Hello again Dave
Nice to meet you yesterday. I see you've had a look at the thread for the 3.0S that I mentioned to you.
As Andrew says, a few of us can't resist looking at for sale ads so for as long as you're looking you'll be given suggestions!

Re: Capri 3.0 wanted
This is apparently a 3.0S.

Doesn't much look like one right now but if it really is a 3.0S underneath, could be a blank canvas.

Hi Mike,
Nice to chat with you yesterday, I'm intending having a look at that one since it's near by.I didn't think it was a v6 shell looking at the engine bay photo's, but it could be a good start.
Hi Andy,
Hopefully I'll find the right one, I miss that v6 burble and easy maintainence...

Hi,
You don't state a preference for year, have you considered a mk2, or are they too fuddy-duddy for your tastes?
http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C597756#
A lot of the 3.0 Ghias for sale are automatics, so no go there.
One final thought. Personally, I would avoid any car that was a 4cylinder model originally but has had the V6 fitted. The V6 shells have extra strengthening to cope with the extra power and weight of the engine. Plus, you won't know to what standard the conversion has been petformed.

Hi Andrew,
I'm inclined to agree with you. I couldn't see a any strut top plates on the blue 3.0. I want a mk3, and also needs to be a sunroof model, just to narrow it down and make it harder to get....
Cheers

If you are going to buy a well taken care of 3.0 S or Ghia you are looking at +10 Grand i think

I'm not a huge fan of the Mk2 but I like this one saw it advertised a few days ago,
love the Interior nearly as nice as Carla Check
Car now removed from Sale!

You know what, I never used to like the Mk2 at all, but the looks are growing on me all the time. Especially cars in black.
