1981 capri 3.0s 4 speed mot failure for sale

Post by jackprangnell »

Hi, the time has come to sell this capri its and mot failure all are small things other than 3 pieces of welding which need doing.
i have almost full service history down to about 5000 miles all the way till now had it mot two weeks ago and will add photos of work to need doing. this car will be a great car for a capri lover ( which i am) just at presnt dont have the funds to do the work nor insure it at my age.

soo hopefully will get a little 1.6 capri. heres a few photos to be honest the price is a ball part figure (dont know the forum rules ) so if you guys would help me on a price for what i should be looking at or expecting that would be fantastic, i know the saying 'its worth what someones willing to pay' but i dont want to let it go for pittence so advice would be great guys cheers. car has 91,000 on the clock runs and starts fine so just incase of rules 3000 ono Image

Hi,
Sad to hear that your selling the car, must be a real wrench to let her go.
Good luck with the sale though.

Andrew.

Sounds an interesting Project, I would be interested if its still available. I'm new to the Forum but have read it for a while so just like to say a Big hello to everyone. I was going to consider a Capri 280, but the prices seem to have went through the roof and i'm not sure they are in fact any better than the 2.8 Injection specials, but happy to stand corrected Cheers Doug :)

Hi,
No, your dead right, Doug. It's a big premium to pay for leather seats and green paint. In saying that, they do represent a good investment, if that's one of your criteria.

Hi,
I imagine that Dr B. will have a long search for the unregistered 280. There's only thought to be three in existance. I l'd love to know how much the client is willing to pay!

Cheers for the reply, no I would rather have something usable rather than a Capri I tuck away in Storage. The 3.0S looks not bad most apart from welding I can do myself and I supppose it would be abit different in Handling than a 2.8

Is that a little dismissive, it's not just that though is it? I mean, it has it's status too of course. Last model off the line and all that, and numbered.

My mate has one of the unregistered 280s. He won't sell though. I have to say, it's a thing of utter beauty.

I like all Capris, and note the previous posts about 280s. I won't ever dislike them but they are just 2.8s

Hi,
I like the 280, it's just that, in my opinion, what it offers does not justify the price difference between what sellers are asking for them and the Injection Special.
It's the status of being a numbered limited edition that gives the car it's investment potential, and will always be sought after. If you want a car for future increase in value, this is a solid choice. However, if you would like a Capri for driving and enjoying, for most owners the 280 won't offer any increased pleasure over the Injection Special.

That's true enough. It is more of a collector's piece I guess. The enjoyment I get from driving my Laser is truly immense :D

Hi,
Glad you've sold the car. As Andy says, it would be nice if it's gone to a good home as it would make a lovely car for somebody.

All the best,
Andrew.
