1981 Ford Capri 2.0 GL Auto

Post by D366Y »

]Hi guys,

I recently acquired an '81 Auto in Mint(ish) green that has been barn stored for the last 20years so is in pretty decent knick considering! It has brand new brake lines (I think discs and pads too) and also new front suspension legs fitted, along with 4 new tyres all around in 2007, but has only been used on a farm track for the last 10years just to keep it running and ticking over.

I am only the Fourth owner... the first had it only for a few years then sold, the next was an old lady who had it for around ten years, and then the guy I got her from has had it tucked away for 20years. She has around 70k miles on the clock which must be genuine, but I can't prove it.

Only a couple of things that need a look at to get her through the MOT;
New rear leafs (already have some new multi's to go on)
Sorting out headlight wiring

are the main things, the only other things are a bit of torn carpet and a new boot lock which need to be fitted (already have the carpet and boot lock ready to fit). Dash has never been cut, interior in very good condition, with opening rear quarter windows and sunroof too, with original radio and owners handbook from "the day"!

Bodywork is generally sound but has a few minor dings, dents and scratches so its not mint on the outside but she isn't a million miles away from being back on the road ready to go....

Mainly just wanted to see if anyone has an interest? I will see if I can upload photos once back from work later today..
I don't need to sell by all means, I can keep her, but would rather sell her on, or finish the works and sell her on to help fund a V6 purchase instead...

We shall see what this thread beings I guess!

Thanks
Danny :cheers: :goodluck:

Don't suppose you fancy a PX against a 924? My mate is looking for a capri project but needs to sell his 924 first. PM me if you are interested and I will pass on his number.

Haha while a P/X with a 924 is rather tempting, I think that realistically it will cost me too much to run and insure, and I'm really after a V6 Capri, either 3.0S or 2.8 but thanks

Unless you are under 20 the insurance is dirt cheap on them, I had a 944 and the insurance was about £70 a year on a limited mileage classic policy. Mpg is around 25 I think so not horrendous and probably better than a v6 Capri, but for me personally I would rather a 3.0 capri! Just a shame I couldn't afford one.

And I will let him know about this anyway as he has been looking for a while for a project. What are you looking for money wise? PM me if you don't want to put it on here.
