I understand why you find it so frustrating, but it IS mostly tongue in cheek, there really isn`t a queue to buy this vehicle.
I`m surprised you`ve not sold yours yet, If I didn`t have a car, I would seriously look at yours, it`s a lovely example. But that`s the problem - everyone on here already has a Capri, (hence nobodies buying Glynn`s or indeed yours) Ironically, this may NOT be the best place to sell your car, for that very reason.
Good luck with it anyway!

That might go a little far and is a bit harsh and judgmental. It is just a bit of messing about.

I do not know how many here profess to be classic car enthusiasts, I do't hold myself out as that - I just really like Capris. Glyn no doubt will speak for himself but I believe he has restored cars before and I am sure he has his reasons for not completing this one. Also, if a buyer is on a smaller budget and can do work themselves, it is probably not a surprise to see more interest in an unfinished car (look at the NEC thread - the red mk3 there was bought for £1,200 as a bit of a wreck and has undergone nut and blot restoration).

Technically speaking, a tyre kicker is a person that appears to show interest in buying a car but wastes your time and never buys it rather than a person that maintains they are a classic enthusiast but buys a car and gives up on restoring it.

Maybe you have experienced that, in which case it might be an idea to reconsider where you have the car listed. As Steve says, a Capri forum where many people already own a Capri or 2 is not necessarily the best place. Try http://www.carandclassic.co.uk etc. I believe it is free to advertise.

Good luck with the sale, I hope you find a buyer soon.

Hi,

It's worth advertising on here, but no-one should put all their eggs in one basket.

There is also Capri Power, Ebay classifieds/ auction, Autotrader, Gumtree, Pistonheads, specialised classic car websites, local newspaper, local free ads paper.......the list goes on and on.
If I was selling a car, I would want as many potential buyers as possible to see it.

Andrew.

Nope, never said that. What's being said is that it's refreshing that someone is being so honest about the condition that their car for sale is in.

Was slightly looking for another Capri to serve as parts donor for my current project, where are you at and how much are you looking for?
Kind regards

This car does need extensive welding to front inner sills and A panels. Rear sills and offside rear floor. Near side front chassis leg. Offside and nearside rear inner sills, seat belt anchors . Near side rear spring hanger corroded.

Needs front wheel bearings. Steering rack and brake imbalance needs attention.
Is this the same car?

Surely its not the same car :!:
If it is, the sales technique has certainly improved. Someone must have spent their misspent youth watching a lot of Minder :xd:

I just don't understand how a car can be described in one extreme and then all of a sudden not be so bad? Both parties apparently have a great deal of Capri experience, so which one has been less than accurate and why?! I'm not casting aspersions, I just don't understand.

I spoke to him on the phone about it way back in September. He described a lot of rot and in some tricky to fix places. Certainly not impossible for someone who knows what they are doing but nor did it sound like a 'fixer upper'.
