1974 Mk2 Capri

Post by BSKPLoft100 »

I have a 1974 Mk2 Capri Ghia, made in Germany. Gold livery. This car was fitted with a new replacement engine and gearbox, 20,000 put on the clock, and then put in storage for about 10years, prior to the layup, it was subjected to, a restoration, a new vinyl roof covering and respray. it has enough anti theft alarms to frighten of anybody. It has some sort of radio system with many speakers and a booster pack??
Locking ally wheels and sunshine roof, just had a MOT, and will be tax free after this year
I have only had it for 6months but at 76 and a bit doddery I need an automatic car now
I am looking for £4500 ONO, any comments welcomed
Regards
Brian

It may well seem the best place to sell a capri on a fan site but it is not as most if not all members already have a capri and yes they do sell but often they are know cars yours is not and you have not even put up any pictures and for a 4 pot you are asking strong money so you will need to work harder, the quickest place to sell is ebay.

The best way to sell a car is to advertise it in as many places as possible. I would recommend CCI magazine, Ebay classifieds, Classiccarsforsale.co.uk, Gumtree and Autotrader.

The Mk2s are few and far between these days, so there's probably a buyer out there. It's just a case of pitching the car at the right price.

Good luck with the sale.

Andrew.

Don't think they've started up the rolling tax exemption thing again have they? http://imgur.com/ should be a nice easy way to get pics up on here.

Hi,
I believe that vehicles over 40 years old are exempt from paying tax. Currently it applies to cars built before 1st Jan 1974, so Brian's MK2 should be exempt next year.

You're right Andrew. It has now been rolled on to 1974. The rolling exemption is being approached on a year to year basis it seems. The inclusion of 1974 vehicles is said to be as a result of the 2013 budget i.e. ithe exemption will not always roll on because the Budget changes each year.

Mike,
You are correct, or it may change if Labour get elected. Don't forget that a 25 year exemption was in place before 1997, and when Labour were elected it was abolished.

With regards to a fair amount of feedback, I have changed my price to an eye watering
£ 3875 ONO

Now being the state of the world, I could be calledup again to fight in WW3 (home guard)
so I will need the space to put my shelter
If you want a look at the motor, just give me a call, info above
I am still having a problem putting pics on the forum

with reference to the tax exemption, yes, if your car was BUILT Before 1Jan 1975 it is then entitled to a tax free status, but as usual the chancellor manages to Shylock his little bit by anouncing this does not come into effect untill April 1 2015, so if your car was made in 74 you still have to pay for tax between 1 Jan and 1April
Going on from that, you have to have proof either from the original maker, or a bone fide, maker club, i would have thought the DVLA would have had all this info to hand.
Makes you wonder whether back handers still exist
Capri still for sale!!!!

Brian.
