FOR SALE - Cosworth YB Powered Red 1983 MkIII Capri.
Hi all,
Unfortunately the time has come for me to move house and job, so unfortunately the car is no longer suitable. Here is the massive spec:
• 2.0ltr Turbo Cosworth YBT Engine.
• Hi-Spec Front brake upgrade, vented and drilled disks.
• GAZ Gold Coilover Front Suspension
• New Quaife Limited Slip Diff
• Custom Made Propshaft
• 1” Lowering block kit
• Poly bushes all round
• New Cosworth Borg Warner T5 gearbox
• Big bore exhaust. (Downpipe is Stainless Steel)
• Battery Isolator in passenger footwell
• 2.8i Fuel Tank
• Bosch High Pressure Fuel Pump
• Anembo Engineering High Pressure Fuel rail
• Roose Motorsport Engine/Intercooler hoses
• New Cosworth KEVLAR timing belt
• 205 Block, Ported 2WD head and Steel Balanced Crankshaft.
• Garret T3 Turbo with 34mm Restrictor (to be removed)
• MSD ‘Wasted Spark System’
• Edis Coil Pack, Motorsport HT Leads and map sensor.
• New Wiring Harness
• RWD Sump and HP Oil P/P
• 90 Amp Alternator
• New High Torque Starter Motor
• Bailey type Turbo Damper
• Billet throttle cable bracket
• Billet fuel pressure regulator
• Billet motorsport actuator
• ‘Dark Blue’ Injectors
• New front bumper
• ECU (VCG Checked by MSD when wasted spark system was fitted)
• Airtec Intercooler and radiator aluminium assembly
• 2 x 8” Electric fans and control system
• Dump Valve
• Air Filter
• 13” Compmotive white wheels (slight graze on the rear left). Tyres to suit.
• Turbo Heat Shield
• New Exhaust Manifold
• Exterior Re-spray approx 3 years ago, although was done by the previous owner.
The car from new has covered 54,000miles (05/2014), but since the engine conversion, has barely covered a further 2000 miles.
All of the work that was required to give the car such a massive spec was completed professionally by Tickover in Dartford. The work has cost far more than the asking price.
Currently in for an MOT, so quick buyers will receive 12 months MOT and 10 months road tax.
Please get in touched if you are interested. I am useless at computers so I don't know how to get pictures up on here, but I am willing to email some over should anybody be interested.
Price: £12,000 ono.

What would you say it's worth? The amount of money pumped into it is heartbreaking. It's hard to put a price on it though, when there are no others like it for sale at the mo.

Hi,
I think your car looks like it's finished to a high standard, it's a credit to you. Stunning!
I think that the price your asking is a fair reflection of what's been spent in terms of money and labour. Unfortunately, the harsh reality is that you may have to wait a while for a buyer who feels the same way about it. With that in mind, I would advertise it for sale in as many places as possible, such as Pistonheads, Classic Cars For Sale, CCI magazine, Ebay classifieds etc.
Good luck with the sale,
Andrew.

Hi Andrew,
Thanks for the kind words about the motor, it really has been a labour of love (and hate at times).
I think I will probably drop the price to around 9k just to try and entice someone into buying it. As the longer it is in my possession, the more I will want to keep it
Anyway, I will make sure it is put up on all of the sale websites that you stated in due course.
Thanks,
Max

Re: FOR SALE - Cosworth YB Powered Red 1983 MkIII Capri.
That's the problem. I myself know only too well you simply don't get 100% o the investment back. If you did everyone and his dog would be doing it.
I think 9k is more realistic. The problem is when you're at the £8000+ figures you're competing against the escort market and I know what I'd rather have for my 9000.
Despite this is a very well done YBT Capri and probably pretty close to the way ford would have made a YB Capri. It looks a top notch car.

I've noticed that this car is now reduced to £7500. A bargain for someone?

I agree, it`s superbly executed, a really lovely job! If only I had the space, I`d have it tomorrow.peers.dupp wrote:Hi,

This is what a capri should have been from the factory.

Taking into consideration what has been said previously, I have to say that the car is WORTH £12,000 of anyone's money imo. It's a real shame the owner won't get that worth back in a sale - good luck with this one, though.
I bet the car is an absolute titan, especially with a turbo in there. YBs are super rare now.

I agree - it`s giving it away at £7.5K. Such a shame.Strigon Two wrote:I have to say that the car is WORTH £12,000 of anyone's money imo. It's a real shame the owner won't get that worth back in a sale - good luck with this one, though.
(I`m very sort of originality orientated, not a big fan of `mods` generally - but THAT is so superbly done it`s beautiful. Absolutely beautiful!)

Well-engineered modifications, but the end result is very discreet.
I think that it could sell for £11K ish, which it is worth, in my opinion. However, it may take some time for the right buyer to appear.
Off topic, but what's the other car in the workshop photo, an Excalibur?
Andrew.

Very nice car and nice to see what it was like complete.
I bought this car a few months back, it's a shadow of the car on this thread as the person that bought it originally stripped it of all the nice bits to put into a Mk1 escort. So I got it without an engine, box, wheels, brakes etc etc.

What are your plans for the car now? I personally think putting a Pinto engine back in is the best route.
All the best

Thanks for the welcome.
I'm probably going to be unpopular as I am putting a 5.0L V10 in the car along with x pack arches etc.

Excellent no you won't be unpopular we are looking forward to seeing the results!
Its been mentioned on here before by someone who spotted a thread on Piston Heads. You can see our reaction on here viewtopic.php?f=10&t=48653
Please make sure you start a post in the projects section. I for one would love to see how you progress

Welcome to the forum.
I'm sorry to have to say this, and I know it is the fault of the previous owner, but I can't believe how mundane it looks without the fancy bits on! The bodywork looks to be in great shape though.
I'm sure with your dedication, enthusiasm and a stonking great V8 installed under the bonnet, it will once again be restored to it's former glory.
Good luck with the project, there will be a lot of people keeping up to date with progress.
All the best,
Andrew.
