Capri 280 Brooklands for sale by auction 31st May

Post by mg251 »

There is an original low mileage 280 Brooklands coming up for auction at Castle Combe in Wiltshire on Saturday 31st May. It's estimated at £3000-£5000 which seems reasonable.

Do you really think it will go only up to 5000 GBP? If I am not mistaken these models go for sale for up to 10000 normally. How come it is valued so low?

Hi,
Call me a cynic, but perhaps the estimate is low to generate interest.
Looks like a nice car, though. The reg looks familiar, I must know it from somewhere. Anyone know?

Well it would be nice to know the winning bid.

I live in Malta and just flew to scotland to buy a 2.8i and paid 4k for it. My dream was a brooklands but my budget was 5k and I never found one less then 10k and the most rotten one i found sold for 7k.

I am really temptd but its too expensive to fly over to the UK to see the condition fo the car and then the bid goes higher tehn the estimated 5k. For 5k its a really worthed car and would consider selling mine to own a 280.

Well its a pitty that I live in the wrong country :(

Hi Marco,
No worries. As long as the bidding is available to view online, I will be able to report back the final sale price. A friend of mine was planning to go to the auction, but unfortunately he can't attend now.

Hi Marco,
This car sold for only £4000. Looks like someone got themselves a bargain. :o

Hi Marco,
Yes, it sold for only £4000. However I spoke to somebody who went to the auction to bid on this very car, and he told me that it was a complete wreck and needed a total restoration.
Shame, looks decent in the photo.

Thanks a lot for the information

I really hat eit when they post non honest photos for a sale of a car. I have wasted quite alot of money in sending people to see cars for me sincie I am in Malta becasue of nice pictures that do nto show the truth:(

I am glad I did not get a flight for this one as it was really attractive.

I will stick to my baby 2.8i that I just bought from scotland from a really honest and nice guy who had sent me a lot of detailed photos on the otherhand and the condition was exactly as described.

Thanks a lot for you input.

Marco
