Re: mk1/mk3 1600 capri wanted
Hi,
A MK1 Capri 1600 in immaculate condition would be £5K+
I am thinking of selling my MK1 1600 GT XLR next summer, 1 previous owner, 51k miles, never been on the road in the last 20 years, tax ran out 30/06/1989, gets trailered for MOT the last 4 years, taken to local shows on a trailer and always people asking to buy it.
Will be on Piston Heads next summer for £8k no offers.

unless you got deeeeep pockets i wouldnt tink o looking for a mk1 that dont need major work, the mk1 is usualy found in two guises. immaculate with a price thatl stop your heart or fairly rotten and still expensive!
if you got the doh-ray-me you could have a mk1 with minimal hassle, but just mind the over the top prices for mk1 panels etc compared to the reasonable and easier to source parts for the mk3.
getta trashy mk3 to start, any dents or dings you give it wont matter. once your a rear wheel demon get yourself a proper capri and youl drive happier knowing you trained in something not so special .

Re: mk1/mk3 1600 capri wanted
thanks for the advice. yah 8k is a bit too expensive for me. driving a not so great capri would be good to get used to rear wheel but i'd prefer to be driving a nice shiny one. i'll just have to drive carefully haha. unfortunatley due to insurance prices a 2.0l would cost too much, needs to be a 1.6 realistically.
thanks

Re: mk1/mk3 1600 capri wanted
hey, any chance of some pictures of the car? i've seen quite a few rust buckets after being told they were 'solid' and in good condition which gets frustrating after a while. it's a bit of a travel for me to have to turn down the car due to poor transfer of information as im sure you can imagine.i'm very enthusiastic so an honest description of the car would be appreciated. many thanks

Re: mk1/mk3 1600 capri wanted
yes mate. will get you some pics over to you asap. will get it on the rAMPS AND take some of it underneath. front outer wings need attention, there is a small hole 5 pence size on ns outer sill and a small hole 10 pence size rear quater near mud flaps. thats it. paint could do with a touch but whats to expect. it's a good base to start from and i don't want mega money for it. it's not a minter but it very useable. dash is mint and everything works. driv ers seat bolster has wear and a couple of stitching could do with sorting. but it's a good car. cheers
