Depends, I was going to say depending on whether it`s actually a genuine Ford part or not: writing in marker may not be true. However I just checked Expressed Steel and their pattern parts are £787 + vat (so a grand) so I guess, yes, it is reasonable, whoever it`s made by. I remember a couple of years ago Martin (bug) was selling one for £350 IIRC, wish I`d bought that!

its a genuine panel, i sold it to the guy about 3 years ago for £350!, nothing like an investment. he has had it up for sale a few times, and there i was thinking i was helping out a fellow needing to restore his car!

Maybe the above is true but perhaps the guy was going to use it but the project/restoration didn't happen for some reason which happens quite often i.e. change of circumstances etc

Some of which seem to be alright prices so far - this interior looks very reasonable!

EDIT: at the time of writing it's currently £175 - just want to make sure this comment ages well when it sells for silly money

I don`t think it`s because he`s selling it on, of course plans change, it`s the fact it`s more than doubled in price? Personally I wouldn`t do that.

The thing is how many people have the willpower to say no when someone offer's £1000 for something you bought for a hundred quid, regardless whether it's a part for a Capri or bottle of wine?

I personally have loads of spare part's for my Capri's that, at the time I bought them, were for future projects that never happened, I certainly never bought them to make a profit in the future, however, some of those parts are now worth substantially more than I paid for them, so do I sell them for what I paid for them??

If I owned an immaculate Brooklands Capri do I sell that for what I originally paid for it?

So it seems the price is about right, considering expressed panel’s present price. Long gone are the days when you could pick up one from anything from between 150-300 quid from a ford show. Those were the days.

;)

This topic always creates debate. As I see it if someone offers something for sale if the price is fair then it will find a buyer. It's different peoples idea of a fair price that creates the debate.
The guy probably paid the going rate at the time, obviously the previous seller was happy at the price or he wouldn't have sold it, it's no use moaning years later because the prices have risen, that's just the way things go.
If we all had hindsight we'd be millionaires - I'm bloody sure that I would be when I think of all the cars and parts that I have had over the years but the prices at the time were what they were so you went along with it.
