Stainless Steel exhaust manifold for Pintos

Post by D366Y »

Hi guys,

I was trying to source a stainless steel manifold the other day and could only find one so far, and that came in at £700!! Powerflow and other such places make from the manifold back, so I called around a few places to ask if they could make a manifold to fit a pinto capri engine, and most places have said that they need a minimum order to justify the cost and start making them.

The lowest I have so far is a minimum of 5, so thought I'd gauge the interest and see if anyone else would be interested in having a stainless steel manifold made up if the costs were right (which I am still waiting to hear back on and be finalised)

Let me know what people think and if there's a demand I'll keep going with it, if not then I'll see what else I can do :)

Cheers
Danny

I'm looking into it because my original cast manifold rusted away, so I got a sportex, which rusted from the inside after 4/5 years so want a longer term solution really :)

I am watching but as you Danny have not got a clue what to do as my exhaust is 3 years old with the CCI Manifold and might get a new one and have ceramic coated inside and out .

I was watching that thread with interest, though ceramic coating doesn't come with a lifetime warranty/guarantee (most places are offering between 1-2years) like I'd expect a S/S exhaust to have and the cost probably isn't too dis-similar.

A quick google reckons that it is between £150-300 just for the manifold in plain black, and any 'performance colours' are usually starting around £350-400 upwards, how accurate that is I don't know but still seems like a lot for painting just the manifold! I paid £220 for the whole system so seems slightly non-sensical to invest more than the value of the part to refurbish it, particularly seeing as mine is rusting badly further back on the whole system as well

Cheers

Hi I use a fantastic exhaust specialist not far from where I live called John Ashley exhausts in Walsall I've had 2 mild steel performance exhaust systems off them now and have been very satisfied. They make all the exhausts themselves and can make stainless steel systems as well. They can also custom make manifolds. The owner John is a great guy and loves his classic Ford's. Look them up and give them a try. :)
