Hi,
If you don't need one straight away, CCI have plans to remanufacture these soon. It might be worth giving them a call to ask when they might be available.

Checked with CCI today, they hope to have 2.8 tanks available in 3 to 4 months time, also asked for the expected price so will post if I get an answer.

I expect demand will be high if price is reasonable

Funny I spoke with CCI today to pay for a part and they are going to have made up 2.8i tanks and what they call Pinto Tanks and it's going to be a stock item . As many people were getting pinto tanks and making some changes and selling them on for almost £500 for the 2.8i .
If it was me cant you do a easy fix and wait for the new tanks as all the rest are going to be over 30 years old and have so many problems .

Yes I agree, it is a very bold move by CCI but I'm just waiting for the usual barrage of slagging them off. If it wasn't for the likes of the CCI the Capri would have died off many years ago.
You would think that now, with Capri numbers dwindling and more and more parts becoming impossible to find that people would finally wake up to the idea that the club etc deserves credit, not the continual barrage of criticism that they have thrown at them on a regular basis.
I know just by the odd items that I have had reproduced and by the enquiries I have made on producing items that tooling and production costs are extremely expensive. Also, companies are not interested in limited number production runs so you can't even begin with low numbers of items and gradually build up orders so you don't ever know how the items will sell.

There are already lots of good reproduction items available, almost all is produced abroad . I tend not to stock a lot of these items because once I have paid for them, added the VAT and shipping to get them over here I can't then afford to have them sat on my shelves gathering dust.
The items are top quality but not cheap but they are there.

CCI replied today and have said no price set yet as waiting for manufacturing company to finalise costs but hopefully in 3 to 4 months we can all get new tanks - guess whats on my Christmas list

I think CCI will be onto a winner with this one

I have couple of tanks in Surrey, collection only.

1 is 2.8i vgc, 1 is 2.8i rusty inside.

I also have a vgc pinto one.

Might be sold already, but nothing concrete yet, so if interested, let me know....

Not on here very often, so won't see PM, please use regular mail johnocapriman (at) outlook.com
