Hi Jazzleigh, your insurance must have come down a bit to match your need for power going up a bit eh!
For suspension, you could get a pair of uprated 2.8i coil springs ( minus 1 inch )from Raldes and a pair of gas strut inserts to fit your existing front struts, buying second hand 2.8 Bilsteins isn't worth it as they're all old now with probably high miles and off an old scrapper.
Front brakes is easy, just get a spacer kit for your existing M16 callipers and a pair of vented discs 2.8 size from similar suppliers.
Rear brakes are a fiddle because to get 2.8 spec you'll need to draw the half-shafts so you can swap the backplates. 2.8 have wider shoes & the backplate is shaped inwards over the end of the axle to allow for it. Rear disc kits are expensive for most road use so 2nd hand full rear brake bits from the usual suppliers is a fair option.
Spring compressors are a must for stripping front struts. Click photo below for a few details:

I can vouch for the engine and gearbox as I rebuilt them

jazz
if your still going ahead with the 2.8 engine please remember
the shell is a four pot not a six pot all the extra shell supports arnt fitted to the four pot shells
don't mess around with the strut convertion if there not done right there dangerous ask martin at capri gear if he has some

the brakes are whats going to stop you from getting killed your axle is fitted with smaller drums and its a 1.6 axle you will rip it apart and there will be too much torque going through it you will run the risk of killing your shell

the weight at the front end compared to what you have is so much more that's why 2.8s have the extra strength in the strut tops on top and underneath if not done right you will pull your inner wings in eventually

the fuel tank is different too and there not cheap

you can end up knackering your car for a few more horses and probally not too many more either unless you have a freshly built 2.8 engine

just bear this in mind
there are several 2.8 shells forsale I know of an immaculate one
its okay wanting more power but you have to be safe in doing so also if your not declaring it and you hit someone there going to notice its not a 1.6 engine and your screwed

me personally I would sell yours and start again its easier and safer

but I still love you lol
