You'll find that the price he quoted is in the ball park for a good condition, guaranteed tank. You asked and he replied, no need to take the piss.

Standard tanks go for that sort of money but you'll be very luck to get a good 2.8 tank for that.

If there's one pinhole then guaranteed there will be more, if it's repairable then why hasn't he done it before trying to sell it?
By the time you'd bought this one, taken a chance on it possibly being unrepairable, shipped it form Ireland, repaired it why not just buy the good one that's already been offered?

Good idea but a couple of problems with that
1, The chance of getting a rotbox for pennies.
2, The chance that the tank is actually any good.
Not saying it's impossible just unlikely.

I very rarely have 2.8i tanks hanging around. They are usually gone as soon as they pass the pressure test.
The problem is that you're not guaranteed a good tank in every 2.8i. Around half of the ones I send fail the pressure test, some can be repaired but most that fail are too rotten to be repaired.
The annoying thing is that most of the ordinary tanks, 1.6/2.0/3.0 pass with no problems.

Cheapest option then pick up a swirl pot, a gravity pump and high pressure pump. Assuming you already have a 2L/1.6L capri with standard tank

That was my tank for 35 quid, as you say, it had a pinhole at the pump mount, hence the reason why I only got 30 quid for it. I bought it for the sender inside which thankfully was perfect.

nah mate the tank is now sold, a 2.8 sender is worth 50 quid on a bad day anyway, I bought it for that, so keeping it as a spare as they're like hens teeth.
