Hi The wire for opening the bonnet of my 73 MK 1 facelift has broken How do I open the bonnet and where can I get a replacement wire. How do I tell which make of engine is in my car ?

My brother had a pre-facelift with that problem, seem to remember it was possible to push the mechanism with a screwdriver through top edge of grill? Or, can you remove grill to get better access? It`s 40 years ago so a bit hazy - but it can be done.

Easiest way to tell which make of engine is in your car is to upload a picture here and I'm sure someone far more knowledgeable than me will be able to tell you

Once the bonnet is open take some photos and upload them to the site

To keep the alligators away from the air intake, stops em getting snappy

That's where our problem is. We use crocodile clips.
