Boot liner

Post by Mrbaboon1985 »

Hi,

I have a peice of wood and a boot mat that came with my car. It seems to rattle and pop out over bumps. Is the wood supposed to be there for the mat to attach to or just the mat over the spare wheel?

Its an annoying sound more than anything but i cant find clips or anything online to stop it happening or if the solid wood was originally there for the mat to clip on to??

Just make sure wooden board is located correctly. The carpet should have press studs to attach to the wood.

I always had things in the boot so my board couldn't move :)

It seems to have clips on the wood that attach to the rim but they don't seem to lock in properly and I can't find them anywhere onine and they seem impossible to bend back to shape lol

Yeah the mat has those attached to the wood. It's the wood itself then attaching to the shell of the car. There's two metal clips but there mis shapen 😊

Try Martin at Caprigear, he's bound to have some.
I'm surprised that the clips won't bend back into shape though, they're only thin pieces of metal.

I was surprised to. I've struck them like iron monger and they seem to hold the bent shape lol

By piece of wood, do you mean cheap piece of a sort of board? Wood is very generous. I guess it was wood once.

Indeed I do. I can't find the clips that's are riveted to it anywhere and it doesn't seem to want to bend. I'm just wondering how others have prevented the rattle over bumps lol

There's no sound proofing in mine so a bit of clonking in the back is merely a part of the deafening symphony:)

The `proper` floor has clips at front and rear to hold it in place as well as a 1" wide layer of felt all around the perimeter, to stop the banging of wood on metal. If yours is just a piece of MDF or whatever (?) maybe put some self adhesive felt/foam around edge to stop banging?

Its those clips you mentioned one just won't bend to Shape and pops out. I can't find a replacement anywhere!

I`m sure you could probably find something in B&Q that would work (cupboard latches?) - or maybe neodymium magnets off ebay could be glued to the edges of wood to hold it secure?
