No, it is fitted as standard. Turn all the way round to have either front speakers active, or rear, or in the middle for both.

Some people bypass it, but I've found it works great even with a modern stereo.

Mine was like yours... Not working.!! Mate of mine John rewired it for me so it works a treat. Just as Paul (pbar) said it balances/fades front and rear, and left and right and works a, treat!! Listening to Talksport I have the front only bit then all four for music

I wondered what it was for ages as it had no know on it and the other day I found the knob under the drivers seat but couldn’t understand what it was doing there!
Originally I thought it was d Ses one aftermarket volume control!

I have to admit though, I didn't realise that it was a combined fader and balance control, I thought it was just a front/rear fader.

Guys I don't know what to say . I had planned to freshen it up before it went back in but I popped to make some tea for me and John and only turned my back for a few mins and by the time I'd come back he had only gone and bleedin wired it all up before I could grab my cloths. He don't hang about !!! Good old John

BUT I have since played with my knob and its looking great now
