No you will need an additive unless you have hardened exhaust valve seats in your engine.

Yes agree with paul , I do have a unleaded head but still use millers fuel additive as it give the right octane . Also helps with the E5 in the petrol . When I lay her up for winter I use millers tank safe on a full tank

There’s a few of us that do notice the difference, I filled up with just unleaded on the way back from the CCI meet a few years ago and thought afterwards the car was not picking up as quick .
My thoughts when I drove my old Capri in the late 80s was 4* star was 97Ron and ford said use super unleaded as that is also 97 Ron where unleaded is 95 Ron

Talking Ron is he still on here  .

Ps that’s from my head ref the Ron numbers

Personally, I'm happy to use regular unleaded with Miller's VSPE+ additive.

Actually I remember 4star was 99 RON, super was 5star, which was 101 or even 105 RON.

3star was 95 RON, and was often called “blend” because it was a halfway house between “economy” or “regular” which was 2 star, rated at 91 RON and 4 star ..

So today’s “new” “unleaded” is actually 3 star - not a good substitute for the old 4 star. - using a booster additive is a good way to keep your engine in good condition or easier, like I do, always use the “super “ brands, some are 97 but I think some are 99 RON.

Even though she’s had a new 24v BOB cossie heart, which is configured for unleaded, I always use super.

I’m really concerned about the introduction of E10 though, and the fact that super will not be around in 5 years. The persistent quest to destroy our freedom and enjoyment!
Cheers

I also read somewhere that branded Super contains a better package of additives such as detergents and lubricants to keep the engine clean.

But, as you say, I'm seriously worried about the introduction of E10.
