What engine

Hi folks , mate of mine asked me what is a 1600 cc Kent engine was out off , said he got one with a type 9 gear box on it , I don’t know ,can anybody shed some light, many thanks,

With a type 9 I would guess an Escort although I don't think it would have been the original box - but don't quote me! Also MKI Capri or early Cortina are possibilities

I`m sure you`re right, the T9 first appeared on the Sierra 82ish I think, I`m certain it was after the Kent Escorts had finished. Is it not true that they all have the same bolt pattern for the bellhousing so can easily be retrofitted (to an engine if not so easily to a car)?

Yes I think they kept the same bolt pattern all the way through to the CVH and Zetec Engines.
It all changed with the Duratec as they went over to Mazda's bolt pattern then.
