He means the pin and clip on which the `other` end of the clutch fork locates, pivots if you like, inside the bellhousing. I don`t know how easy that would be to check without an endoscope or similar? Although on 2nd thoughts, can you pull the fork on and off quite easily... I think maybe you can - BUT I DISCLAIM ALL RESPONSIBILITY IF YOU CAN`T GET IT BACK ;) ?

Ha Ha yes I think that will be a case of if it’s not broke don’t fix it ha ha

I assume once it's fixed you will be putting the rubber weather shield back in place?

I believe you're now at the point of needing a known good one measured before you go any further.
Maybe Martin can help?

Take a 2.8i clutch cable, pull the cable through until the clutch pedal end is in as far as it will go, then measure the length of cable projecting from the bell-housing end.
Compare this measurement to what you have on yours.
If it is the same and you know the first one measured works properly, then you possibly have another issue.
If it is different, get a cable with the correct difference between inner and outer.

It could just be a camera lens effect but the clutch arm doesn't look to be sitting flush with the release bearing in the top photo - going along the lines of Peter's post.
There are also at least three different Capri release bearings (front-to-back dimension,) all of which will fit in there but giving various levels of success in operation. Whip the cable off and give it a jiggle.

Just two questions:

a. What exactly is the engine you have?
b, Have you for any reason changed the bell-housing? (even if it's the same type and pattern).

PS.
I would imagine that any difference in lengths of clutch cables - i.e. for the same model of Capri - is determined by on which side the driver sits.
