Definitely change the oil spray bar above the camshaft. Its a very quick and easy DIY job to do. Some take them off, clean them with solvent or compressed air and put them back, but they aren't expensive new. A good bit of preventative maintenance in any event.

Could the start up rattle just be a normal dry follower that ticks untill the oil gets there and dampens the tick . Motors make all sorts of expensive sounding noises upon start up , specially if its yours . As said above , verify oil supply via clean spray bar, and then go find something else to "fix " :)
