Ford Fusion immobiliser problem..

Post by Major_Tom »

54 plate.

My girl changed the battery, now the immobiliser is immobilising. Im about to try putting the key at position 2 and disconnecting the battery for 30min as advised by a mate of mine, but any other advice appreciated. Modern cars.. :gay:

Not sure but you should or could have 3 keys and one is red ? What you use first to start the car ? Or if two black keys try the other one as you may need to reprogram the black key what is turning Two clicks on and off 4 times .

Been a few years since I had a 2004 ford .

Have one original key with the remote unlocking controls and one newer one with the red tab that I assume is the immobiliser key. Ive stuck them on the same key ring. Ok will give that a go as no tools.. why do girls rarely have the basic tools?🤔

Well I tried that on and off four times thing, it chimed at me.... and then.. low and behold.. nothing happened

Oddly it did not chime when I tried it again a minute later, so something awoke deep in the modern unknowable depths of its electronic heart.

I love how everything in the future makes a variety of cheeping noises that seldom indicate anything useful.

All that’s all I know as I think the ECU has lost its memory, you could try disconnecting the battery again for over 15 mins then try again ?

Just thought ! Yes there’s a oil crank sensor and it might be playing up so check the oil ? Just a guess as these were a common fault back then that would stop the car from starting ?

My dad didn't buy anything, his car went to a garage and they got someone in who programmed it. A couple of up checked it first and there was no fuel pump, no crank just a few clicks here and there.
