Re: Grass seed question
+1 on that but cover it with a bit of topsoil otherwise the birds will have it. They’re feeding pretty apeshit at the moment.
Re: Grass seed question
Well, you seem to have sown the seeds of a long discussion.
I'm sure there'll be a lot mower advice to come.
Although, with the current situation you should consider planting potatoes, carrots, cabbage etc instead.

Re: Grass seed question
Cheers Andrew as you have a sit down lawn mower I guess you have a grass seed tractor
Noel , Yes I do have some top soil I will do that but our cat helps with the birds and a picture of the mother in law
Mr Bug can’t do potatoes this year as the farmers field had potato blight last year so village is banned .

Re: Grass seed question
I don't use the ride-on much these days as I've bought a self-propelled mulching mower that I tend to use more.Jasonmarie wrote: ↑Fri Apr 03, 2020 7:37 pm Cheers Andrew as you have a sit down lawn mower I guess you have a grass seed tractor
It saves a lot of work not collecting the clippings!

Re: Grass seed question
Nothing yet?
I'm no expert, but you might have to cover those seeds to stop the birds being able to get them. Are you watering the seeds in? The soil in your photo looks dry to me.
What I do on small patches like that is use an implement to pierce 10mm deep holes and sow the seed into those holes. Cover up the holes by stamping on the soil. Water well.
Andrew.

Re: Grass seed question
I can help you with some advice on how to grow grass indoors Jason.. Pop over when all this virus business is over and I show you how I grow it. Much easier indoors as the birds can't get to the seeds.....

Re: Grass seed question
Yes there’s a few spots like that I think it’s where the dog does a wee
But did rack dead grass up and loosen the earth about a 1” down then seeded with topsoil and old seed I had in the shed . Have been watering morning and night .
Day 3 tommorow Folks
That is funny nick now I know why your electric bill is so high
But we don’t want WEED in our lawns
