What a pain!

Have you checked with Pilkington's yourself Danny, just to make sure?

Some people on the net do seem to offer them -

A pain indeed!

I've not called Pilkingtons yet - my two hour jolly this morning getting there and back means when I'm meant to be working means I'll have to call them a bit later today.

Saying that, I'm meant to be working now but....

Hi chaps.

I've known about this guy on fb but never contacted him before but seeing your issue Danny I contacted him today and this is his reply. Looks very positive for those wanting a bronze tint without the mirror bit :)

Hi Nick,

Our screens DO NOT have the mirror print and never have done.

They are MK3 size and we do them in heated and standard, we also sell clear and bronze options for the standard ones.

At the moment I only have clear left in stock, more bronze being made at the moment but we sold about 15 of them in the last couple of months so got caught short. My estimate is they will be back on the shelf end of May.

In short though yes we supply them exactly as you want them.

Thanks

Dan

Hi Nick,

That looks helpful thanks!
I'm hoping to be able to get one before the end of May though - seems a bit of a wait! Worst case if it's not sorted I'll contact them but would have hoped it's fixed by then :(

Cheers
Danny

Hi Danny,
According to Pilkington's website, they can manufacture classic car windscreens can be made to the customer's specific requirements.
Perhaps the fitters meant that they don't keep the screens in stock?

Andrew.

I tried calling Pilkingtons yesterday but the person I spoke to tried to put me through to their automotive department, transferred my call, it rung out and hung up on me so I didn't bother to call them back again!
I've emailed them and asked if they do in fact make and can supply the correct windscreen and am just waiting for them to come back to me so fingers crossed they can!

Thanks
Danny

It's good to know that at least someone is making them, surprised at how many they have recently sold, as they mentioned in Nick's reply.

Good luck at getting an answer from Pilkington's!

Hiya,

That's good to know thanks. I do have it booked in with my insurance company to replace it but they've put everything on hold at the moment - apparently there is some reason they have decided to close at the moment and put any works on hold... Not sure why

Thanks
Danny

Hi mate,

Did they fit the windscreen with bronze tint glass WITHOUT that nterior mirror pad thing or was it plain glass with the black mirror pad. Either way that's a decent price and very helpful to know this. Suppose you supplied the seal, or did you use your original?

All the best

Nick
