Rear Creaking & big knocking over bumps

Hi , this has got worse over the last couple of months, it seems there is a creaking sound and quite abrupt “hits” when I go over even small bumps. It feels like the car is hitting bump stops or something.
Could it be very worn out shocks/dampers?

Cheers

Have you checked the rear leaf spring shackle bushes for wear, if the ride height is ok it be those or they could be loose.good luck.

Yep , :agree: , sounds like a rubber bush has given up ,possibly a shock mount . Shouldn't be to hard to see, there ain't any hidden bits on Capri back end :D

If the shackles are OK, I'd jack the rear up with the axle hanging and check the springs themselves for any fractures etc. Also give them a good wire brushing and possibly a coat of WD40 just to eliminate "stiction" ie friction causing the leaves to stick to each other when they should be able move as the car goes over bumps etc. This is quite a common cause of creaking with multi-leaf springs.

Spooky, I've just noticed the same issue over the weekend as well - will check the bushes :)
