Haynes Manual
Haynes Manual
O.K. then, we've all got the Haynes Manual for the Capri 2 ( including series 3 ) 74 to 87. The question is how to tell what actually applies to the series 3 then, especially with the wiring diagrams. Thanks, Steve.

Re: Haynes Manual
The Haynes wiring diagrams aren't the best but are a good start - ignore the bits about the Mercury Capri, but the colour of the wires on the Haynes can be helpful, along with the actual wiring, but they really aren't clear at all

Re: Haynes Manual
Thanks for the replies guys and the diagrams Andrew. I will have to stick with the Clockwork Orange ones then, they do look good. As to gleaning other Mk 3 info in general from the manual I suppose it's hit and miss. Would the Autodata for the Mk3 be any better I wonder.

Re: Haynes Manual
I have a couple of manuals which I prefer over the Haynes for some things. The Autodata one and the SP one. I find both are very good, depends what you are wanting though I guess.
Re: Haynes Manual
I have all three manuals - Haynes, Autodata and SP. I find both Autodata and SP much easier to follow than Haynes. The illustrations in the SP manual are particularly helpful - but then I'm not the most technically minded person in the world.

For in-detail knowledge of how to do things I think the Ford factory manual is best. It is the technician's manual for advanced repairs such as gearbox and axle overhaul.

Re: Haynes Manual
Are you meaning the one(s) with the orange plastic type covers on them Paul?
Re: Haynes Manual
Oh, the orange one. I'd forgotten about that. I have that too. Very detailed and definitely one for the professional (which I am certainly not!!). But the print is so small I have difficulty seeing it. It does have wiring diagrams though.
Re: Haynes Manual
Thanks for all the info guys, that's got my Christmas list sorted. Never heard of the SP one though.

Re: Haynes Manual
The orange Ford manual has been reprinted by someone - I got a copy for £15 online a few years ago.
It is printed two sheets to a side of paper though, so whilst readable for reference, it's not set out for bedtime leisure reading!

Re: Haynes Manual
Do you ( anyone ) know if this orange book is still available ? .
For small print I use my phone camera hooked up to the telly, I stuck an old fag packet to the pH to hold it level and a consistent distance from the type , then just move it round like a mouse

Re: Haynes Manual
This is the book, Mc.
It's published by Brooklands Books.
I haven't searched around for the cheapest price or anything, but this is the book you are looking for.

Re: Haynes Manual
I found from the Brooklands site that the book is only available via Amazon...$79nz on my doorstep , which is about what the Haynes manual would cost here.

Re: Haynes Manual
You can get it on the New Zealand ebay site, but I guess this is costly?
