Ive only ever used cork ones but i cant see a problem if its rigid enough to stay in place whilst tightening

With cork gaskets I always smear a thin layer of grease on both sides of the gasket, hardly ever get a leak - my dad said it's what they always did back in the day especially with valve cover gaskets

I stick my Rocker gaskets on to the cover with 3 bond (or F2 glue ),and bit of grease on tother side, gasket stays stuck to cover when it's removed for servicing ,don't over tighten the bolts when fitting and it lasts for ages :burnout:
