She’s dead! :nopity:

Anyway ECP have two, a Bosch one for about £250 and a lucas one for £80.... car gets minimal use so tempted with the Lucas. Anyone had much luck with a particular brand?

Lucas stuff is ok , just bear in mind the amount of work it's likely to have done. For that sort of loot I'd probly get one of them reduction gear jobs .... They sound so cool

I got a second hand part from Martin (caprigear) for less than that and has lasted just fine for the last 4/5years so I'd look at that option too

Whoa - before you spend anything, is yours a Bosch one? Most likely it will only be the brush/regulator unit that`s failed, these are available on ebay for a tenner, worth a punt? You can change in-situ, It`s literally a 2 screw job, 5 minutes max. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12v-ALTERNAT ... SwpHtcn2~g

If it's just a lazy starter check the two long bolts that go through it are tight. I've seen several cases of lazy pinto starters caused by this.

Re a new starter, Lucas ones are genarally just fine with there having been a few cases of duffy ones. At least buying from somewhere like ECP you get a warranty should it be defective.
