Strut legs and parts

Afternoon all! Spent today stripping back the legs on the S for painting but any suggestions on how to get the rubber cover off at the bottom? (Picture 2) Or am I better just leaving it on....??

Also, I'm not sure what the part is called but it's bent and needs replacing - can you let me know please so I can ask Martin?? (picture 1+5)

Finally, I got the ball joint off the bottom of the leg, but split the rubber - can it be replaced or am I better off just getting new ones with poly bushes in? (Pictures 3+4)

Cheers!
Danny

Hi Danny,
It's great to see that work is quickly progressing on your 3.0. 8-)
The bent thingy is a steering arm. If Martin can't supply them, they are £88.50 a pair at CCI and even more expensive at Tickover.
The rubber ball joint covers can be bought separately, but whether you bother or not might depend on the condition of the ball joint itself.

I take it you used a fork-type splitter to separate the ball joint?

:goodluck:

Andrew.

Thanks Andrew, I'm rubbish with proper terminology!
Mildly annoying that they're so much for something so small :(

The ball joint itself seems OK, and glad they sell the covers as well, makes life much easier rather than buying a whole new arm
And yes it was a fork type splitter - few good twats with a hammer sorted that out (and ripped the rubber at the same time  )

If that TCA is off the side damaged Dan, from what I could see in your photos I would think you would be better to change the whole arm. They aren't that expensive, about £20 should buy one on ebay.

Fair shout Paul - if they're that cheap I might as well really!

Am I better off leaving the rubber cover on while spraying up the rest of the leg or is there a way to get the clip at the bottom off?
