I did mine when Nick gave the heads up too, looks like we all did. Hasn't he recently retired to the Bahamas with two Tickfords, a Zakspeed, 4 Brooklands and a Turbo Technics?

Someone on Capri World has received theirs too, so must be on the way.

D Day Anniversary on here too JM! In a way sad to see but proud of what they did for us

In a way our generation are the last to appreciate this as we knew people that were in it, ie Grandparents, or those born around the time ie Parents.

Our younger generation will have no real link :(

Yes as i had family and friends at work who were there as they all stated there sentence “ During the war “ now I noticed on the BBC Internet news it’s telling you what D Day was about . So in 25 years time it will be 100 years since D Day omg .
I think peter is up at Duxford today watching all the planes take off I bet that amazing to see . I did enjoy what the BBC did today but not keen on that blond bird singing

Agree Andy and Jason. Always a poignant service and a reality check too.

Managed to watch some of the BBC coverage at work (decent boss). Loved the flypast but over too quick.

Sad to think that one day there won't be any veterans/generation from this era alive to share their stories.

I hope that this and other conflicts still continue to be taught in schools, to serve as reminder of the scale of sacrifice and to keep the memory alive.

Last year my son went on a school trip for a week, over to Normandy. They visited a couple of museums/beaches/cemeteries and he and his mates were awe struck.

A few years back, I met some WW2 pilots at a Duxford airshow. I consider myself fortunate to have had the chance to meet them and listen to their stories, both happy and sad.

...... Reminds me, I must get to at least one airshow this year.

Ps, I must have missed this Capri at 50 mag that everyone is referring to??
