Being 6ft I find the drivers seat, even when slid back to maximum, does not give me a comfortable driving position. Ideally I would like the seat to go back another couple of inches.

Anyone made any adjustments to do this and if so how did you do it?

Not sure if you could do this without re-drilling holes in the floor...? I never thought about it, im 6ft 3 and never had an issue in either of my cars, what seats do you have?

I suppose it depends how long your legs are in proportion to your body whether you'd fit comfortably in the Capri. As it happens, my legs are only just long enough for my feet to reach the ground when I'm standing up......

Your situation reminded me of a discussion we had some time ago on this forum about whether tall people can fit in a Capri.

Some people say they are well over six foot and fit comfortably, while others say they can't.
Drilling the floor would probably involve welding strengthening plates in the new positions of the holes, it's not just a case of getting the old Black and Decker out! If you don't fancy doing that, it must surely be possible to make up some kind of bracket that fits between the seat and the base, although any extra bracketry there might raise the seat a little and compromise headroom.

As Andrew says I guess leg length is the main issues as I'm 6' + with no issues. Just to cover the obvious, is the seat going back all the way?

I found having spinal surgery helps as I was 6” 2 and now about 5” 10 also you will not have to worry about the chopping in to the Capri . Joking about As Dan said I have never had any trouble I wonder if your seat is not going all the way back ? I guess you have checked .

Another 6 foot person who has no problems in a capri, check the operation of the runners

Well the seat slides back and then stops dead. I reckon the back of the seat bracket is in line with end of the floor rail if that makes sense ie the seat doesn't overhang the floor mounted rail. Is this correct? Maybe I should undo the four floor bolts and see how the sliding mechanism works.

With the seat fully back there is still a good 5-6 inches between the rear of the drivers seat and the front edge of the back seat

Standard seats 1982 Capri 2.8i

I'd say take the runners off and grease them up good and proper just to be sure - it's easy enough to do and would be a good way to cross something off the list to check.

I built a car earlier this year for the owner who is 6 ft 7 inches tall, problem was he also wanted his partner to drive the car occasionally and she was 5ft 10 inches tall
What I did was make up some extension brackets to fit onto the seat base so I could still have the seat runners booted to the floor in the usual places. That way I gained 5 inches of extra rearward travel but the seat could still be used as normal when pushed forward.

cheers guys, I think I will take the seat out and have a good look to see that the seat is sliding all the way back on the runners. If there is something stopping the seat going back further than the runner I could always remove it and add another stop further along to add a couple of inches. I'm sure the seat will be fine if there is just a small overhang.

Its likely there could be something obstructing the full travel of the runner.

Have you checked its length of travel against another Capri - or against the passenger seat ?

Yep passenger seat the same so must be standard. The seat slider is in line with the back of the rail when fully back. I just feel the seat going back even another inch would be more comfortable for me.
