Escort zetec

Postby Rosco59 » Wed Dec 05, 2018 7:00 pm

Hi I know it’s not a Capri but wondered if someone could help.
I’ve got a Mk5 escort with a 1.4cvh engine. There’s a mk6 escort breaking for parts on eBay with a 1.8 zetec engine. Does anyone know what other parts I would need to get it going. Thanks

As far as I understand it the CVH and Zetecs blocks are so similar they can be swapped directly.

I presume though you will need to take the induction system, ignition, ecu etc from the donor Zetec car so may need to do some splicing of the engine wiring loom, may need to get custom hoses made up and may need to make up an exhaust using bits picked from each car. Not that its relevant in your case but when people have put Zetec engines in rwd cars they have used the sump, oil pipe and some other parts from a cvh engined Sierra so i know the cvh and zetec blocks must, externally at least, be interchangeable.
