Nick,
Out of interest have you changed or removed your spark plugs since you've been using Millers VSPE Power Plus (the high dosage from the smaller bottles)?

Andrew.

Hi Andrew,

I last changed my plugs about this time last year as I have had no bad running issues so have had no reason to check/replace them since. I will be changing them again soon as a matter of course with my annual mini service but tbh B112 is running very well at the moment. Is there anything worth looking out for Andrew ?

Andrew I am wondering if the 250ml and 500ml VSPe doses are different strengths if this makes sense. Yep Mark told me they are the same product but maybe he meant they do exactly the same albeit different strength mixes. By this I mean the 250ml might be a weaker solution than the 500ml so you add the whole bottle of 250 to treat approx 50 litres in the same way a much stronger solution in the 500ml bottle requires a smaller dose and means the bottle goes further. Does this make sense ?? Just seems strange they would not have a warning on the 250ml bottle saying its is only recommended for low mileage and 'one use per year' additions to the tank. I have used it on many a time during the year and just following the instructions to 'add the entire bottle to a tank of petrol' ??

I prob got it completely wrong and it sounds silly but just a thought aloud ???

It shouldn't cause you any problems as you add the Miller's in much smaller doses than we've been using. The multishot recommends 1ml of additive per litre of fuel and the small bottle that Nick and I have been using suggests the mixture should be five times that. I'm just wondering if the higher dosage will have an adverse effect on the spark plugs, as I've read on the internet that some of the ingredients in petrol additive leave deposits on the core and electrodes. It's all getting a bit technical for me, so I was just asking Nick for a second opinion.
I must admit that when I first started using the VSPE Power Plus, I was surprised at how high the recommended dosage was compared to the Castrol Valvemaster that I had been using before. The Millers VSPE multishot has a similar recommended dosage to the Castrol, so that seems more likely to be correct to me.

Funny had the same conversation with Nick lastnight as he has found a bottle of the mutishot on eBay at around £20 I think . But he also emailed them with the same answer I got . I also read lastyear in one of the classic car magazines that did a review of the stuff and the end result on a old pinto engine with over 100k miles on everything look so much better in side . Also as you just said they gave you all the information that I did not understand . I will try and find it but I do always lend out to dad and my grandad would also read them ,but I will try and see .
But I did laugh a bit when I followed nick the other week , that smell and sound was just like mine when his car was running and I did say to nick Christ that must be a good thing .

Have you had your heads done andrew ?

I haven't had them done, there's no receipt in the history folder either, so I would say that they have not been converted.

I was lucky as mine had been done it cost around the £400 mark also a new cam was fitted with with a full top end build . But the guy who had it worked at Fords and had a very large car collection . Lucky really as Gus at Tickover said he could see it was all new . Funny thing is I also have one of them “ don’t know what they are called things “ ( I will have a look )

Also here’s a review from dodgy John

Somebody probably got rich by selling those to gullible people.....
The science behind it is dodgy at best.

On a similar note, years ago when I bought a mk2 Fiesta it had an aftermarket gizmo fitted to the fuel inlet at the carb that was a magnet, basically. The manufacturers claimed that it aligned molecules in the fuel, or some such rubbish, and increased fuel economy... :?

I can't say I'm surprised. Was that a fuel cat or the magnet thing?

Fuel Cat!
It started to leak at first so tightend the clips, but eventually removed it, joined the fuelines and used additive.

The same could be said of the additives which are out there. I mean, who knows?

Very true my grandad use to say back in the 50s somebody would fill your car with petrol and for a 1p give you a shot of redex .
He said you had that done because everybody would do it

That is a very good point!
We read what it says on the bottle and take it for granted that it does what it says. I'm more inclined to believe Miller's claims than those of the Fuel Cat manufacturer though. Perhaps I'm just one of the gullible types....
