A couple of bits

Post by Jim »

Hey guys,

I'm after a couple of bits for my Capri, as seen in the pictures below. If anybody knows where I can get hold of some, preferably new, please let me know.

I have tried doing a search but not sure of their actual names, so if anybody knows this that would be really helpful as well.

^ bung that goes in the hole here.

^and bung that goes in the inner rear wheel arch here.

Many thanks in advance.

Hi I can help you with the bung in the wheel arch / seal, it’s metal and held in with a mastic seem sealer and it’s the same size as the floor bungs, Tickover stock these.

Thats made me wonder - are there supposed to be similar bungs in the side of the rear spring hangers to cover the large access hole for the spring hanger bolt ?

Funny I did check a few capris at the ace to see if there was anything supposed to be in the holes under the bumper as I do have some rubber bungs I was going to put in there .

So what are them holes for ?

I don’t even know who Capri I looked at now to see if it’s just something on mine as I know in the late 90s she had a tow bar fitted and thought perhaps it was for that .

I want to say they are to allow water to escape??
My GL has got a load of expanding foam in the way at the moment so any water that would usually get out of the car on it's own is now starting to fill up my spare wheel well instead, so assuming that the bung under the bumper is meant to allow that water to get out...??

Well I do have these drain holes under the bumper in the rear quarter, no grommets in them and I don't ever remember even removing them so who knows if they were ever there.

I think the small holes behind the bumper on the rear quarters, were used to inject that horrible sound deadening foam. Mine has a bung with a small hole through the middle which I believe is factory standard.

My car has got the same as Neil's.
One of mine is slightly perished though, so if anybody is able to find a source for a suitable replacement bung/grommet/whatever, please can you let us know. Thanks. :D

Yes, there are present, but had started to perish with age.

I would, it can't do any harm.
