gearbox foam

Post by Essexsoulboy »

I'm still working to get my 280 back on the road, the gear box has been removed, stripped and is now ready to go back on.My question is there was a small piece of foam on the underneath on the gearstick that needs replacing,I presume it was for sound deadening. The original had just disintegrated and I presume an original piece is no longer available, just wondering if anyone else has used replaced this in some way and what they used.

Many thanks

I did exactly this when I changed my gearstick, stuck the new one down with sealant on the tunnel.

I raised this before as in the link, I got hold of some foam, would now love to get hold of some idea what a complete one looks like as theres is nothing left of mine to go on. If any one has a phot or sketch even, that woudl be a big help.
