Axle location kits

Post by ThatGuy »

I've spent all day thinking about what to do with the rear axle on my Capri, at some point she will probably get drifted so while I'm getting it to how I want it I figured I'd try and get a grasp on the options to make it a little less shit

I've spent the entire evening researching axle location kits and pros and cons of each so if love some input from everyone and anyone that's run any of these on their capri's.

First off X frame kits, from what I can tell it would be easy enough to make up myself to keep costs down and it would sort of work but I have heard about people snapping leaf springs as they can twist them.

Pan hard rods, a step in the right direction but doesn't keep the axle centred or something like that so its better at cornering to one side than the other. Again easy enough to make myself to save money

So that has left me with either watts linkage/4linking or anti tramp bars and here's where im getting abit confused. So with anti tramp bars you can get kits for escorts I think some people have modified for capris and this seems the easier of the 2 but do you need to get rid of the anti roll bar? I think on the escort you do as the arb brackets on the axle get in the way. But on the capri would you be able to just mount it to the chassis rails?

And watts linkage every install I've seen on a capri you lose the rear seats, again would you be able to mount it to the chassis rails or body and still keep your rear seats?

Any help on this would be awesome as I've got so much car stuff I'm trying to learn and figure out in my head with this build to try make the best car I can
Cheers all :)
