Pinto 1.6 GT specification

Post by hoobymeister »

Hi Gents,

I know this has been covered before, and I have read many of the posts, but can someone please confirm the 1.6 Pinto GT spec, specifically the valves as I've read conflicting information about exactly what valves are used.

I think it uses the following:
  • • 2.0 camshaft - 268 degree, 1mm extra lift vs. 1.6 spec 256 degrees
    • 32/36 DGAV
    • 4-2-1 exhaust manifold
2.0 inlet valves 42mm. 2.0 are shorter than 1.6, and I'm assuming needed due to the extra lift of the 2.0 camshaft?
    • Exhaust valves... 2.0 (36mm) or 1.6 (34.39mm)?
Whilst the head is off I'll have it ported, and hardened valve seats fitted for unleaded.

Reason for going to 1.6 GT Spec is I want a little extra performance for the Capri, and I have all the bits left over from a 2.0 Pinto I'm using in a Ginetta G4 racer. So apart from the hardened valve seats there is no monetary cost involved.

Thanks for your help,

Dean
