Im looking to fit a quick release steering wheel to my MK3 but im clueless on what will fit.

Anybody have any idea on what would fit and what I need.
Also I have the standard non power steering rack and stock 1.6 column.

The issue is getting 3 compatible things. You need a steering wheel boss that fits the capri spline, and then that has to have the same PCD as the steering wheel and the quick release thingy. I managed to get a new momo boss, and quick release thingy (crappy one though), and steering wheel with momo PCD. That quick release adaptor looks better than my one.

I like the idea a lot, having the steering wheel inside the house just adds an extra layer of security and peace of mind. I picked the style of quick release I did as it was a lot slimmer, and therefore easier to carry, but that also means it's a less solid fit - it wobbles a bit

Just the characteristic you need in a steering wheel........

My view is, is it really worth the bother and expense to fit a quick release steering wheel? If it's for the peace of mind of extra security, in my opinion, there are better ways.

With security, the more the better imo. It's a good visual deterrent too I reckon. If I can dissuade the lowlife from even breaking in, that's worth it.

I tried one of those slim ball bearing types as it was bought as a gift, it was on for 2 minutes because of the extra play I took it off and told the mrs to send it back, I have a splined type now and there is no play at all nice and solid with no wobbles so nice and safe the only downfall is it is taller than the other type so the wheel is closer to you

I've used an nrg one in the past which was pretty good, it was a ball bearing type and had a small amount of play but that was back on forward not side to side. But like fordperv says a splined one is probably your best bet for zero play

I will be fitting a quick release to mine, but i have not found any that seem to have a good fit.

Going to get a boss wire eroded in time and then fit a decent quick release system to it. Bet it won't be cheap though!
