Gear lever change

Post by Caprifan Rob »

After a great drive, managed to snap my gear lever today. Annoyingly, it's booked in Monday to have some work done. If I get a replacement, can this be changed from inside the car if I get the gator off or is it a box out job ? Car is stuck in reverse :banghead:

Must have been a fun drive back home!
Sorry to hear about the gear lever, I'm pretty sure it can be replaced without taking the gearbox out.

Andrew.

Yes it can be done from inside the car. You need to remove the centre console as the gear lever gator is fixed from underneath as I remember but the three bolts/screws that hold the gear stick in place will then be accessible.

You can change it from inside the car, take the main section of centre console out and there's three torx bolts that hold the lever base into the gearbox. I have plenty of replacement levers available.

Thanks for the advice guys, I'll remove the console & old shifter today. Martin, I'll order a new one from you. Looks like a fiddly but easy fix. Thanks again for quick replies, much appreciated.
