Brake warning light on

Postby Gaz-LS » Sun Apr 08, 2018 9:30 pm

Hi all here's a strange one on my to Malvern this morning has I was just heading into Malvern the brake warning light came on and stopped on, I checked brake fluid oil waters as I normally do before setting off this morning and all was fine. So the first thing I check is to see if I still got brakes, yes what a relief, pulled over when I could pop bonnet no leaks nothing leaking from wheel cylinders knew brake pads was ok cause all the brakes was replaced beginning of the year, so carried on light still on then temperature and fuel gauge stopped working just approaching three countries show ground indicated to turn right at lights indicators not working, pulled into show ground rev counter stops working what a nightmare, parks up checks under bonnet still no leaks checks fuses relays everything fine no bad connections no corrosion. So I has a cup of tea trying to think what it could be spoke to members in the club I'am in they all said wiring bad connection goes back to the capri starts her up brake light goes out rev counter indicators fuel and temperature gauge all working . What a mystery everything was fine on way home I just don't understand it at all. The joys of owning a capri ha, any body have any ideas what was going on?

Could possibly be a problem developing with the instrument panel circuit board or a poor earth wire to it.

In addition to what Paul has suggested, check that the multiplug in the back of the dashboard has not worked loose.

Thanks paul and Andrew for your input I will check the connections at the back of the dash. I was thinking last night and today when I pulled the capri out the garage yesterday the garage floor was very damp the roof not leaking but there's water getting in somewhere so that probably not helping things most likely the electrics were damp as well.

Hi.

Another thing to check is that the float switch in the master cylinder is still able to float.
I had one years ago that effectively was stuck in the fully down position and therefore the light came on permanently. If the master cylinder is full when you put the cap on you should see it rise if it is to work correctly.
