Re: engine core plug help
Hi,
It could be that the core plug wasn't fitted properly.
There is some very helpful information on refitting core plugs in Paul's post in this thread:

It could be that it might be a good thing to fit a new plug, instead of refitting the old one.
Andrew.

Re: engine core plug help
Is there anti freeze in the car? It has been mighty cold in places so if the coolant froze that could force a core plug out.

Re: engine core plug help
Don't refit the old one, they're only a few quid for a complete engine set.

Re: engine core plug help
Hi,
A full set is £6.75 + P&P (if you are a member) from CCI.
http://capriclub.co.uk/core-plug-injection?search=core plug
If you are not a member of the club, they are slightly cheaper from Burton (£7.31 + P&P).

Martin at Capri Gear may also be able to supply them.

Re: engine core plug help
Core plugs are a sacrificial part and are supposed to pop out to save the block from cracking in the event of it freezing......... a bit like a fuse in an electrical circuit is a deliberate week spot

Re: engine core plug help
If the core plug has popped out as a result of the coolant in the engine freezing, I would venture to suggest that the antifreeze mixture is a lot weaker than the recommended 50%. It hasn't been cold enough over the last few days for antifreeze to freeze.
