Hi,
The paint code is on the VIN.
I think I'm correct in saying that all 280s have the same paint code - T7.

Andrew.

T7 is correct.
I was told some time ago the 280 had 2 shades of paint used.....The first cars were slightly different to the later cars iirc

:goodluck:

As Andrew said the code is on the VIN plate and may be on a sticker in the boot - left side where the boot board sits down.

Might pay to take your petrol flap along for the paint shop to be able to accurately match it.

Years ago I had a Ford catalogue that showed various badges etc you could buy for the car
It included one for a Capri 500. This was what the 280 was originally planned to be, but then for some reason (maybe left over stock) they decided to make 1038 of them.
Problem is, they only ordered enough paint for 500!
So the next 538 had to have another batch of paint made up. not only did it turn out to be a slightly different shade, but Ford tried to keep the cost down by ordering the minimum amount they could get away with, hence the reason 280s have very little paint in the door shuts, under the bonnet etc.

The lesson here is, that although the paint code is the same, the colour is not! So the only way to be sure is to get the paint matched to the car by a decent quality paint shop. also bear in mind that the original colour will have faded by now.

Thankyou Bug, that's what I heard hence my comment above

I believe this to be the logo for the aborted Capri 500.
