Replacing master and servo

Post by rafcapri »

happy new year!

So my master and servo definitely need changing...badly. one option is to rebuild them with new seals.
i'm thinking of refitting the two from other cars from the wreckers. it's a dual line capri 1600xl 73 mk1.
any advice on which car model servo and master should i be focusing on in my search that has the
least modification required from mounting to brake lines etc.

another advice - what's the best way to pry open the servo for the capri? looks like it is fixed/stuck together.

thank you.

The original master cylinders can be rebuilt but many seem to go for the late Granada type master cylinders which are still available and a slightly larger internal diameter and are regarded as marginally better than stock whilst looking the same.

Hi,
I think rebuilding a servo is a specialized job and you will probably not be able to source any spares. Best to replace it with a new one or a good secondhand one. The upgraded Granada master cylinder fits the 2.8 servo only.
I would contact Tickover or another Capri specialist to see what your best options are.
